Collection: Beaded Embroidery
In the Spring of 2021 I inherited a bunch of embroidery hoops and sewing supplies from my grandmother. I combined my love of beads with her love of sewing(and the few things she taught me about it) and I then ran with it.
I was making mini scenes like these in resin for years, but the toxicity drove me away from working with it too much. Then I had the amazing revelation that I could sew these scenes together instead. They are longer lasting because there's no yellowing and more environmentally friendly. It was the next step I was looking for. I just didn't know it until I had those embroidery hoops and sooo much spare time because of Covid shutdowns. Some of these pieces are from my latest exhibition "Beads Unstrung into Lands Far-Flung" at Union Station in Kansas City for the 2023 Fringe Festival.Â
