Embers of Raediance

Flyover Country
Lil Jayhawk is finally nestled in his bed of crimson and blue after a long day of flying high above The Plains. From his perch in the rolling hills, he's admiring the sunflower sunset as it washes our amber waves of grain in shades of magic and wonder.
The sunflower, embroidered and stuffed for texture, depicts the image of the setting sun. The "rolling hills" have an iridescent film that mimic the endless color changes found in a Kansas sunset. The shapes in the "hills" represent an aerial view of Kansas farms. The little Jayhawk is an enameled metal pin that I altered and sewed into the sunflower along with the nest made of glittery red and blue stands. The wood frame is painted a deep red. It is a hanging frame that measures 8.5"×10.5".
